CORRESPONDENCE OUT / IN

LETTER SENT TO HUME COUNCIL -RE: CUT BACKS TO HOME CARE
Letter expressed our concern that Council plans to make cuts to the service it provides to the aged and infirm in our community. We stated that it is important that these people should be allowed to remain as independent as possible in their own homes and this has only been made possible by the home care they receive from Council.

LETTER SENT TO HUME COUNCIL -RE: REDUCED CAR PARKING AT BROADMEADOWS LEISURE CENTRE
Letter stated our concerns that not enough car parks were available for patrons using the Broadmeadows Leisure centre, due to building works adjacent to the Centre. People are forced to park across the road in car parks reserved for those visiting Centrelink, Hume Global Learning Centre or even the Broadmeadows Shopping centre.

EMAILS SENT TO COUNCILLORS -RE: NON ATTENDANCE AT OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS
This email communicated our disappointment and frustration that Councillors don’t make an effort to attend our meetings and don’t even send apologies if they are unable to come. We suggested that even a monthly email from them communicating any news would be better than nothing.

** Daryl Canny also sent an email to these Councillors expressing his dismay of non attendance to GRA meetings.

LETTER RECEIVED FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE -RE: APPLICATION FOR A PACKAGED LIQUOR LICENCE
Letter informs us that the application has been re-scheduled for hearing by the panel on Monday, 29 March 2010, at 10.30am: Venue – The Meadows Sports and Function Centre, 80 NOrthcorp Blvd Broadmeadows. The Dept states that objectors who object on the same grounds as others will be asked on the day to choose one or two spokespeople to speak to the panel on behalf of the others

SIGN TO ADVERTISE GRA & NHW
Things are progressing slowly with signs to advertise both associations. Sign will be erected on Barrymore Rd, hopefully in a prominent place.

GRA - COMMUNITY AWARENESS DAY AT SHOPPING CENTRE
Greg has contacted management of Greenvale Shopping Centre who are yet to advise whether we have permission to set up a table in centre to promote GRA and NHW on Saturday, April 17.
Residents present at our meeting have suggested we make up a small banner to place in our notice board, urging Greenvale residents to shop locally and support their local shopping centre.

**We would like to urge the GREENVALE COMMUNITY to SUPPORT their LOCAL TRADERS**

ISSUES TO BE RESOLVED REPORT
Diane has very kindly spent much time and effort compiling this report which is a record of current / ongoing / incomplete issues which have been raised as well as a record of Councillor attendance.
Adem indicated that he will follow up progress regarding access between Palamino Valley Crt and Drummond St – privale properties have fenced off common walkway access.

Adem also advised that a second soccer field is to be built after July.
Diane will keep this report updated each month.

COUNCILLOR’S REPORT
• Adem indicated that it is a priority to get toilets installed at parks in Greenvale.
• Section Rd will be re-surfaced soon at a cost of $600,000. Residents present informed Adem of their concern about the dangerous right hand turn intersection of Section Rd and Somerton Rd. Adem will find out from Council where things are at in regards to upgrading this intersection.
• The second oval at Section Rd is built and the third oval is progressing.
• Resident asked why there is no infrastructure in Greenvale. Adem explained that when Greenvale was developed, it was not a requirement for developers to pay for infrastructure. Now, with new developments such as Roxburgh Park, it is mandatory for developers to pay for infrastructure to be installed.
• Adem is pushing for a second basketball court and has asked Council for the 2010 – 2011 budget to establish a gym in Greenvale. Adem is also pushing for duplication of Somerton Rd and has written to the Minister.

GENERAL BUSINESS
• Greg has done some investigating regarding possible land set aside for a Neighbourhood House in Shannon Rise. Gre has asked Council to investigate whether land purchased in Shannon Rise is set aside for the sole purpose of a Neighbourhood House.
• Issue raised about land set aside for a secondary school.
**Letter will be written to Liz Beattie and the Education Minister asking for an update on the school situation.
MEETING CLOSED AT 8.00p.m.
