Greenvale
Skate Park
·
Hume City Council has commenced
a project to redevelop the Greenvale Skate Park behind the Recreation Centre. · Hume has published on its website a draft concept plan and it outlines details on new skate infrastructure, improved landscaping and ancillary facilities.
· Council wants to hear from residents who use the skate park, including skateboarders and BMX riders who can forward feedback to council via website www.hume.vic.gov.au
New
cricket nets
·
Cricket in Hume has received a
big boost, thanks to the opening of new training nets at the Greenvale Recreation
reserve on Section Rd. · The nets have been established over turf pitches and are located between ovals 1 and 2 at the popular reserve.
· These nets allow children and adults to practice their batting and bowling on superb turf surface.
· They will be used regularly at training for the players of the Greenvale Kangaroos Cricket Club and are certain to enhance the clubs on field performance.
· The turf pitches offer a first class resource for the people of Greenvale, as well as residents from other parts of the Hume community.
Summer Sessions
· Council has screened outdoor movies at various sites around the Hume across summer. Residents at the meeting stated that more notice and marketing would have been good, placing it in school newsletters etc., as not enough people knew about it.For those that attended it was received well and feedback was positive over 250 residents attended the viewing of Big Hero 6.
· Ademalso advised that there would be a number of music sessions around Hume with bands playing outside Council offices near Broadmeadows Shopping Centre on Friday nights between 6-8pm.
Barrymore Road Recreation Reserve
· Hume City Council set aside $150,00 in its 2015/2016 budget to upgrade the drainage at the Barrymore Road Recreation Centre in Greenvale (Greenvale Soccer Club).
· The investment followed a major project in which Council constructed a new pavilion at the reserve.
· Hume spent $1.3 million to deliver this pavilion, which includes four player change rooms and male and female umpire rooms.
· The pavilion was completed in April 2015.
Greenvale
Recreation Centre
·
Council set aside money in its
2015/2016 budget for a basketball court and additional community facilities at
the Greenvale Recreation Centre. Works have commenced on the upgrade. But no one
thought to add more meeting rooms,· Cr Atmaca asked for the meetings opinion regarding land at Kirkham Drive which could possibly have been used for a neighbourhood house. The meeting indicated that the land should be sold and the monetary proceeds from the sale be used to establish a neighbourhood house on the Recreation centre site on Barrymore Rd.
Cr Atmaca suggested that
if this was to be approved it would be more beneficial to add near the current
Rec Centre as a separate building so it can be used during the day and night.
· Community Events and news is displayed on the Hume website and in the local paper.
· Aitken Blvd from Somerton Road to Craigieburn rd will be opened fully on the 10th March 2016.
· Carpark issues at Greenvale Rec Centre have been addressed by council, and no further action will occur unless it becomes more of an issue. Council to look at placing bins in carpark area, and to put signs at the carpark to advise the carpark gate will be closed at 8.30pm daily.
· Cr Atmaca to provide new resident population numbers in the Greenvale area including new estates north of Somerton road.
