Minutes of 25 February 2021 Meeting & AGM

Presidents opens meeting at 7.07 pm

Meeting commenced recognising that the founding member Mr Charlie Grech had sadly passed away and the contribution he had made to many facets of the community. Charlie also held many positions on the committee over the 30 years and was a master of the letter writing. We will miss his chuckling and smiles.

Minutes of the last meeting

Due to the pandemic no meetings were held during the 2020 year with the AGM being deferred

The Minutes of the last meeting November 2019 were circulated.

Presidents Report

Meeting held with Greenvale shopping centre owner Mr Jamie Gray and discussion about the parking issues. The issues were being addressed with council about the ramp being widened to allow double car access. The centre has relocated the gym to a new bigger space on the outside perimeter and a laundry mat had also been added and a Barber

Treasurer’s report –Two payments made during 2020 

1.                   Australia Post $134 for Post Box Renewal in 2020

2.                   Consumer affairs $59.20

Current bank Balance $2,671.56

Councillors Report

Councillors introduced themselves to the group:

Cr Jim Overend 

Lived in Craigieburn for 32 years has actively been involved with the Mickleham Road Subcommittee and many years of community engagement in the Craigieburn area, local business man.

Jim reported that the Hume council have opposed the fast tracking of Craigieburn PSP which will be bring in another 9,000 houses.

There are Council Community Cancellation meetings to take place on:

·         4th March in Buller

·         12th March in Sunbury

Residents can also go online and put in feedback.

Cr Chris Hollow

Lived in Greenvale for 6 years, first time as a councillor, very keen to get more facilities into Greenvale and the Hume area.

Council is putting in toilets at the Greenvale Gardens playground.

 

Election of Officers – AGM

The President thanked all the existing office Bearers for their service.

He then declared all positions vacant and handed over to Cr Chris Hollow to conduct the election of the office bearers.

Cr Chris Hollow called for the nomination of officers:

President -Stephen Woodhams nominated by Richard Baran and seconded by Joanne Rees. There being no further nominations Stephen was elected president for the 2021 – 2022

Vice President – Richard Baran nominated by Stephen Woodhams and seconded by Joanne Rees There being no further nominations Richard was elected Vice President for the 2021 – 2022

Secretary - Caroline Dowling nominated by Stephen Woodhams and seconded by Tamara Nolan. There being no further nominations Caroline was elected Secretary for the 2021 – 2022

Treasurer – Kathryn McKenzie nominated by Joanne Rees seconded by Caroline Dowling. There being no further nominations Kathryn was elected Treasurer for the 2021 – 2022

Secondary College Sub Committee Report

Mark Busuttil reported that the school in being built in stages. In 2022 will commence with year 7. The zoning hasn’t been announced yet, hoping that it will include all of Greenvale.

It’s a fantastic result after 30 years of presume that Charlie in particular had advocated for overall that time.

Ros Spence has been contacted to have a discussion on whether the Library could be named after Charlie Grech.

Mickleham Road Sub Committee

Tamara Nolan reported that the GRA has entered a submission to the VPA Projects Standing Advisory Committee – Referral 4 Hume Planning Scheme Amendment: Craigieburn West Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) strongly objecting to the Amendment and requested that these matters of funding the duplication of Mickleham road and fast tracking its development are prioritised by the VPA with the Victorian State Minister for Roads and Roads Safety – Ben Carroll MP prior to the PSP progressing. The GRA subcommittee is planning to represent Greenvale residents through the planning hearing scheduled to commence on 26 April 2021 and present our concerns regarding the increase to residential development in the area and impact of increased traffic volumes on Mickleham Road.

GRA has reached out to the owner of the Greenvale Shopping centre to capture tenant statements regarding the impact of increase traffic volumes on Mickleham road to their businesses.

General Business

Thanks to the new office bearers.

Mobile Library Bus no longer operating.

Minute of silence was held for Charlie Grech.
