LETTER SENT TO HUME COUNCIL – RE: CLEANUP OF SHARED USER PATH ALONG MICKLEHAM RD
Letter asked Council to clean debris along shared user path from Greenvale Drive to Elphinstone Blvd. This is the second letter we have sent in regards to this matter. Letter also requested that extra trees be planted to replace trees that have died.

LETTER RECEIVED ON 13 JULY FROM JOHN MONAGHAN (Manager Infrastructure Planning) who writes that twice he has walked this path and has not observed any tree branches or debris along path. He has asked that we call Jason Summers of the Parks Dept to meet him on site to ensure matter referred to is addressed.
** Residents present at meeting are not satisfied that path has been fixed up and problems with open drains / stench of sewerage is still present.
Letter will be sent to Council asking for sewerage problem to be investigated and request that extra trees be planted along pathway and garden area mulched with woodchips and improved.

LETTER SENT TO COUNCIL – RE: TRAFFIC CONGESTION AT COLERAINE ST ENTRANCE OF BROADMEADOWS SHOPPING CENTRE
Letter asked council to consider building another entrance into Broadmeadows Shopping Centre to alleviate traffic congestion as cars leave / arrive at car park.

LETTER RECEIVED FROM COUNCIL – JONNIE MISSOS – (Traffic & Civil Design) who writes that the owners of the shopping centre have recently submitted an application to Council to construct a deck carpark over the northern carpark to increase parking supply. Council is currently assessing and reviewing the existing and proposed access points to provide the safest and most efficient access from Pascoe Vale Rd and Coleraine St. Timing of project is unknown however it is assumed that construction will commence in the not to distant future.

LETTER SENT TO COUNCIL – RE: TRAIL BIKES RIDING ON VACANT PROPERTY NEAR CATTERICK CRT
Letter advised Council that trail bikes are causing a traffic hazard on vacant property near Catterick Crt and Bridlington Drve. Riders are using Somerton Rd to access this area. We asked that area be fenced off. This is the second time this letter has been sent to Council as we did not receive a reply when letter was sent off in April 09.

LETTER RECEIVED FROM COUNCIL – RE: RATE RISES IN HUME
Letter was from the Mayor – Jack Ogilvie who stated that a rate rise of 4 % was necessary to maintain the high standards and quality in the wide range of services offered by Council. The 2009/2010 budget will deliver the largest ever capital works program with $41.25 million being spent on new works throughout the city – works that the community will directly benefit from. The budget was created in a responsive and responsible manner in the current economic climate with consideration given to its impact upon ratepayers. Hume is one of the fastest growing municipalities and Council must ensure that it can keep up with the increasing demand on services and infrastructure.

LETTER RECEIVED FROM COUNCIL – RE: FESTIVALS AND COMMUNITY BASED ACTIVITIES
This was a response to our letter to Council asking for Greenvale to also be included in the planning of festivals and community based activities. Letter states that Council is currently reviewing all of the events and festivals that are held across the city to ensure they are of benefit to the community and provide opportunities for all members to come together and participate. We were informed that currently Council holds two BMX and Skate competitions in Greenvale each year and this year in particular, Aitken College are hosting ‘Beauty and the Beast’ as part of Hume Winter music Festival.

INVITATION RECEIVED FROM COUNCIL TO ATTEND 2010 COMMUNITY GRANTS INFORMATION SESSIONS Invitation was for two reps from GRA to attend information session on how to apply for Community Grant.

HUME CITY COUNCIL 2010 COMMUNITY GRANTS
We did finally come to a decision to apply for the Grant and spend the money on a Family Day to try and involve residents in their community. The CFA and Neighbourhood Watch could also be involved in the day. Greg White (Treasurer) will organise the application and send it in to Council.
MELBOURNE GROWTH AREAS – PROPOSED GREENVALE DEVELOPMENT
Joe Calabretta has been in contact with Travis Conway who is the Structure Planning Manager of Growth Area Authority. Travis and his associate, Belinda Smith will address our GRA meeting on THURSDAY, AUGUST 27 at 7p.m. and explain to us what developments will take place in Greenvale and Hume Corridor. Interesting to note that the school site on Glencairn / Barrymore Rd, we fought so hard for will now be retained for the purpose of an educational facility.
**ALL RESIDENTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND. SPREAD THE WORD AND BRING A NEIGHBOUR OR TWO.

POLICY REGARDING MATERIALS / ADVERTISEMENTS IN CABINET IN SHOPPING CENTRE
Cabinet is up and running. Signs were made up to advertise GRA and NHW. Signs are stickers which are stuck onto glass front. In the cabinet we will hang “Minutes of our monthly meetings,” Agenda of meeting and a note explaining that advertising space is available for a fee. We already have an advertisement hanging in cabinet. Neighbourhood Watch also have space to hang their information.
** Suggestion that we hang a sign asking people what they want for Greenvale and add GRA web-site, email and phone nos for contact purposes.

GENERAL BUSINESS
· New Greenvale resident is concerned that we don’t have any proper playgrounds such as the community playgrounds in Ascot Vale and Albert Park. He is angry that he has to drive to other suburbs to take his children to a decent playground. He is determined to keep on Council’s back about this and other issues.
· Issues brought up again about Greenvale being on the bottom of the list and getting little in return for higher rates.
· Letter will be written to Council asking for better designed playgrounds.
· Greg informed us that a property in Clare Blvd was featured on Foxtel showing a successful drought proof garden.
· Greg has complained to Council about unregistered cars, trucks, back hoes and other earth moving equipment sitting on blocks of land or in front of houses in the Shannon Rise area.

MEETING CLOSED AT 7.50p.m.
