LETTER SENT TO HUME COUNCIL – JOHN MONAGHAN -RE: PLAYGROUNDS IN GREENVALE
Letter asked Council to investigate the state of our children’s playgrounds in Greenvale. We pointed out that most playgrounds need updated play equipment and seating for parents. We also emphasized that there are no adequate playgrounds for our very small children. Residents are taking their families to other Council funded playgrounds in other suburbs.

MELBOURNE GROWTH AREAS – PROPOSED GREENVALE DEVELOPMENT
Travis Conway and Belinda Smith from Growth Areas Authority explained to us what is proposed for Greenvale in the next 5 to 10 years.
The area near Aitken College will be an Activity area with retail development planned, a primary school, possibly a secondary school, sporting ovals and residential housing lots. A Community hub with Kinder and health services will also be eventually constructed.
Approx 8,000 extra residents will be housed in newly developed housing lots of approx 500/sq.
GREENVALE COMMUNITY EVENT
A Community Event in Greenvale at the Greenvale Shopping Centre has tentatively been planned for Saturday, October 17, to run from 9.00a.m.-1.30p.m.
Plans are still in early stages but possibly have the NHW Trailer there, Dog Squad, SES, CFA and a local Councillor.
Greg and Vince are on the committee organising this event and will look into the possibility of having a sausage sizzle.
Shopping Centre will have to be approached for permission to stage event.
A roster of people will be needed to man the activities.
APPLICATION FOR A LIQUOR LICENCE FOR GREENVALE SHOPPING CENTRE
Liquor land is seeking a licence to operate a Liquor store at the Greenvale Shopping Centre.
Jamie Gray, who is the manager of the Centre has been meeting with Council over the application.
One of our main concerns is that the residents’ of Corpus Christi will be severly affected if liquor licence is granted.
Greenvale Residents’ Association is yet to decide whether it will support or oppose the application.
GENERAL BUSINESS
· There has been an increase in robberies in Greenvale with a scam operating where people are gaining access to homes on the pretence of changing over light bulbs to enery efficient ones.
· DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE INTO YOUR HOME UNLESS THEY CAN PRODUCE I.D TO PROVE THAT THEY ARE FROM A REPUTABLE ENERGY COMPANY.
· A Greenvale resident is willing to continue the fight for a secondary school in Greenvale. The Secondary School Site file will be handed over to her so she can familiarise herself with the campaign waged several years ago.
