TREASURER’S REPORT

Treasurer Reported on GRA Finances
That the Treasurer’s Report is Correct
Moved: Charlie Grech
Seconded: David Burrows, Carried

Greg also presented the report showing INCOME AND EXPENDITURE for Period 1/07/09 to 20/06/10 for Greenvale Residents’ Association Incorporated. **Please refer to following page.**

The group present at tonight’s meeting decided that GRA should apply for the annual Council Community Grant with funds (if granted), to be put towards running costs of the Association.
It was also discussed that in 2011, GRA should look at running a Car Boot Sale – Trash ‘N’ Treasure in the car park of the Recreation Centre.

GREENVALE RECREATION CENTRE – LACK OF ACTIVITIES TO ENGAGE RESIDENTS
It was discovered that the Greenvale recreation Centre offers the following programs for Greenvale residents:

Yoga, Kinda Gym, Occasional Care, Italian Senior Citizens, Multicultural Senior Citizens, Greenvale Basketball Association, Learning Land, Kumon, Tai Chi, Romina’s Dance, Greenvale Playgroup, Champs Taekwondo and Helen O’Grady Drama.

We wondered if these groups advertised – are residents aware of these programs?
Why is the Recreation Centre closed during school holidays?
Could Council introduce other programs at the Rec Centre to engage Greenvale residents?

We discussed the fact that Council should subsidise the Rec Centre so costs of sending children to programs aren’t so high.

**LETTER WILL BE WRITTEN TO COUNCIL**
GENERAL BUSINESS
** Yvonne Partington who is a Greenvale resident, has spent many years lobbying our Mayor, Councillors, Liz Beattie, Maria Vamvakinou, Green’s M.P. Colleen Hartland to highlight issues that affect Greenvale residents. Issues that she has raised include:

• Inadequate transportation services to enable residents to travel south of Greenvale e.g. to Westfield Shopping Centre, Trams, Schools, Health Services, and Universities.
• Limited service provision in Greenvale, particularly given the suburban area of Greenvale has existed for at least 25 years. For example, youth services,
• The re-routing of the planned orbital bus (Smart Bus) away from Greenvale to Broadmeadows via Pascoe vale Road, Roxburgh Park.
• The need for street lighting on both Mickleham rd. and Somerton rd.
• Library services (at a permanent location)
• The need for a community centre e.g. expansion of the Recreation Centre to accommodate council supported youth services and adult recreation services for instance.
• The low profile of local councillors in Greenvale. What are they doing for Greenvale? What can they do to improve services?
• That community development in Hume seems to be highly concentrated on Broadmeadows, Craigeburn, and Sunbury.
• The lack of community festivals and special events e.g. Carols by Candlelight in Greenvale

Unfortunately she has not received positive feedback from any of the above people.

She did meet with Colleen Hartland (Greens Party Member of Parliament(Legislative Council) with whom she discussed her concerns about the above issues.
Colleen is happy to meet with Greenvale residents at the August GRA and then give Greenvale residents an opportunity to voice concerns and suggestions in a public meeting forum.

**The Application for A Packaged Liquor Licence by Liquorland (Australia) PTY LTD for a Liquorland outlet at 1 Greenvale Drive, Greenvale was discussed at length.
Moved by Charlie Grech, Seconded: Daryl Canny, That Greenvale Residents’ Association not be a participant in the VCAT Liquor Licensing application hearings.
Carried

** Vania Lunardi announced that she would no longer seek re-election for the role of secretary for the Greenvale Residents’ Association at the Annual General Meeting in October.

** Greg White also announced that he would no longer seek re-election for the role of Treasurer.

Residents are encouraged to consider applying for these roles to ensure the ongoing viability of the Association.

Charlie proposed that GRA set up a GMAIL or HOTMAIL address for residents to contact us.

MEETING CLOSED AT 8.15p.m.
