Letter to Department of Justice - 23 Jan 11 Objection to the granting of a liquor licence at Greenvale Shopping Centre for the sale of packaged liquor.
E-mail from Hume City Council – 28 Jan 11 Barrymore Road Recreation Reserve Development. Walk and talk about soccer fields on 2 Feb 11 with Hume City Council officers.

GENERAL BUSINESS
Liquor Licence at Greenvale Shopping Centre: Daniel explained there was a new application posted over the Christmas holidays. He also explained the action taken including consulatation with the Committee members prior to the objection letter being sent to theDepartment of Justice on behalf of the GRA.

John Haddad: John explained his possible non-availability for the Treasurers position. After discussion Greg White will retain the temporary Treasurers position until John's commitments are clear.

Sewerage Problem on Mickleham Road: This problem has been reported to the Hume City Council before. A septic tank overflow from a private residence is spilling into the storm water gutter causing a potential health problem.
Action: Charlie Grech advised that no action has been taken and he would contact the Hume City Council Health Inspector to resolve the issue.


COUNCILLOR’S REPORT:

Hume City Councillor’s Ros Spence and Adem Atmaca both presented and spoke about the issues list below.

Flooding on Mickleham Road during heavy down pours. A letter from the City of Hume has been sent to the new State Government about this problem.

Upgrading of Somerton Road. The road needs to be upgraded to dual carriageway from Roxburgh Park Dve to Mickleham Rd. Traffic lights are required at Magnolia Bvd and Kirkham Dve. The Councillors expressed the view that this is the number one priority for roads within the City and have written to the new State Government to reaffirm this.

Other various local projects were discussed including Section Road upgrade with work to start later in the year ($600K is allocated to the project). Upgrading of the Greenvale Football Club number 1 oval is in progress. The planning of the soccer fields behind the Greenvale Recreation Centre and the need for the Greenvale United Soccer Club to develop a strategic vision and business plan for this area including Clubhouse facilities.

The public tennis courts at Greenvale Ave and Normanby Road ovals were discussed. The final plans not finalised and have not been sighted by the councillors.

The provision of a major playground at Greenvale Ave was also discussed.

Cr Adem Atmaca: Adam explained the personal difficulties he is experiencing presently and answered questions from the floor.

There being no further General Business the President thanked those in attendance for coming and closed the meeting at 8:30 pm.
