The meeting took a break to celebrate Charlie Grech’s 70th Birthday.
GENERAL BUSINESS
Liquor Licence at Greenvale Shopping Centre: Greg White explained that there has been no further action from the Department of Justice on the application at this time.
The President Daniel Garafalo attended a meeting with Jamie Gray from Greenvale Shopping Centre. Jamie is seeking a compromise and will attend our next meeting with the liquor licence applicant. The floor was opened to questions and there were many. The previous applications were discussed. Daniel has checked the liquor laws. Discussion against the application indicated that the reasons for objection are still valid. Daniel to hold discussions with Corpus Christi. Kerry Ventura to start a Facebook page for GRA to put forward the GRA position.
Action: Daniel to talk with Corpus Christi and Kerry Ventura to start Facebook page.
Library Bookmarks: Brianna advised that the artwork was complete and she would forward to Vania for distribution to the committee for their opinion.
Action: Brianna to provide artwork to Assist Secretary.
State Secondary School for Greenvale: President to hold sub-committee meeting and report to GRA September meeting.
Friends of Tammy Joe: Brianna spoke about this charity and the trivia night planned for 6 August 2011. Hatfield Football club is the venue and cost is $15.00.
Hume City Council Community Grants Program: The Secretary spoke about the Grants Workshop that he attended. After discussion it was decided that the GRA seek a grant of $2000 for 2012.
Proposed Attwood Light Industrial Area: Jason Phillip provided information that the area between Attwood and Greenvale could be rezoned and used as a High Tech Industrial Park.
Action: Jason to provide documentation to Secretary.
Greenvale Soccer Club: The club has spoken to Hume City Council about the clubs future intentions. Hilmi Mina provided the following information. There is no provision for lighting in the first stage and the modification to the Greenvale Rec Centre toilets will not happen. 3 Portable change rooms/ toilets will be provided. The club will only use the ground on game days until lighting is provided as training is in the evening. The club will hold a committee meeting to sort out future plans.
Vandalism of Trees in Barrymore Road: Daryl Canny advised that trees have been broken and pulled out in Barrymore Road. The council has been notified.
There being no further General Business the President thanked those in attendance for coming and closed the meeting at 9.00 pm.
