Star Local Newspaper
Jenks Sakir reported he was interviewed by the Local Star Newspaper
regarding his stance on snakes in Greenvale. The editorial covered his appeal
to the Hume City Council in rethinking its stance on charging for snakes to be
removed from private property, particularly when the disturbance of habitat was
caused by Hume Council works on public parkland.
Property Values on
The Decline In Greenvale
Joe CabCabretta
raised concerns over the decline in property values in Greenvale (original
suburb, not to be confused with new states such as Providence etc.) was due to
the non-marketing of our suburb by Real Estate Agents. General feeling is there is no infrastructure or facilities to attract families to the actual Greenvale locality. Emphasis is put on areas that are recently zoned and are advertised and sold at low prices. Currently cost of properties in Greenvale is very much on par with adjoining suburbs such as Roxburgh Park and Craigieburn, where the Council is focusing on developing those areas.
Suggestion from members to uplift the face of Greenvale as the suburb of choice is as follows:
Education real estate providers to uplift the profile of Greenvale. Extend invitation to real estate agents to join next Residents meeting to discuss issues / concerns by residents. General feeling is the market is misinformed about Greenvale as a suburb – Action: Jenks
- Council is not spending
any money on beautification or development of facilities in Greenvale.
Where are Greenvale residents rates going, and which adjoining suburbs is
our money spent on?
- General feeling is there
is no secondary schools in Greenvale or infrastructure
- Contact Herald Sun edition for a write up on Greenvale in the Sunday Real Estate Section to promote our area. Action: Jenks. Please note this action has been completed by Jenks. Please refer to Sunday Herald Sun due to be published on Sunday 17th of June for a write op on Greenvale.
Subdivision in
Glenmore Place
Mavis will contact the town planning office to discuss
concerns over the unit built on the back of number 3 Glenmore Place. Concern is
the unit has been built illegally.
Sewerage Pipes
Works around the parkland off Kirkham Drive / Glenmore Place
has been finalised, however the cyclone fencing has not been removed. This
impacts residents who want to utilise the walkways around these areas. Additionally, grass around the parkland is quite high and residents find themselves having to trample over it to walk pass. These areas should be managed by the Council effectively rather than neglect it.
Follow up letter

A reminder will be sent to Cr. Ros Spence to follow up on
items raised at the last Residents meetings for which she was to investigate and
provide a response. Topics have been listed below. Action: Semra. Red Bins
