Apologies:- As Per Attendance Book
President’s Report: Welcome to our new
secretary,
Treasurer’s Report: The treasurer reported on the groups finances
Minutes of last meeting: The minutes of last meeting were circulated and accepted as a true record.
Moved & seconded that minutes, correspondence, and treasurers report be accepted. Carried.
Correspondence In:
Hume Council re:
entrance/exit to Greenvale Reservoir changes: Hume advises that they
are not in a position to monitor or enforce the road rules at the new gate and
that this is a matter for Victoria Police. Cr Atmaca explained that the gate at
the bottom of the hill is to be closed and the entrance/exit at the top of the
hill will be permanent. He will follow up the potential traffic issues due to
no right hand turn possible out of the park due to double white lines. Cr Atmaca also agreed to pass on concerns
regarding the state of the facilities and parkland to Melbourne Water.
Hume Council re: Public
Transport and Footpath Provisions along Mickleham Rd to new estates: Public Transport Victoria indicate that
current population projections would see bus services introduced in 2021.
Growth greater than forecast would see this brought forward. Footpath construction is dependent on the
duplication of Mickleham Road for which there are no current plans.
Councillor’s Report
Soccer pavilion: Works have
commenced, due for completion in time for next season;
Recreation Centre
expansion: Concept plans not yet sighted. Committee to start meeting
July 2015. Funding in 2014/15 Capital Works is for additional court, gym and
meeting rooms. Extension of opening hours for the use of the general community
to be raised once the expansions are underway;
Exercise course and walking
track for Greenvale Drive reserve: – Cr Atmaca proposes to
raise this for funding in the next financial year.
Shopping Centre Extensions – Update
Original plans for Aldi to
be built where the Medical Centre currently resides with a rooftop car park were
objected to, so it is believed that this will be redrafted to include parking
underground. No further submissions have been made to Council. Cr Atmaca will
make these available to the GRA when he has them. A report is expected to
council in September or October 2014.
St Carlo School footpath – Update
Council confirms that works
are scheduled to be undertaken in the 2014/15 financial year. Discussion
regarding detail of the proposed works indicated that unless the footpath
widening extended from Murray Ct to Drummond St the crowding issue would be
ongoing. Crs Atmaca and Patsikatheodorou to clarify the detail.
Community Safety Forum – Upcoming

October 2014. Limited places, please RSVP per attached invitation flyers.
General Business
Greenvale Shopping Centre: The permanent
closure of the external entrance/exit to Coles (east side) was questioned. Cr Atmaca
will clarify whether this was part of the original planning application and if
so, may be in a position to compel the centre to reopen this entrance/exit.
Fleetwood Drive/Somerton
Road Traffic Lights: Criteria for the installation of lights is
based on number of fatalities at the intersection. At present this number has
not been reached.
Sunbury Out of Hume: Residents are strongly encouraged to attend
the Mayor’s address on Monday 29th September at 7pm at the Broadmeadows Town Hall for further
information on how this change will effect Hume.
Fairer Funding: Melbourne’s outer
councils (including Hume) are continuing to weather funding shortfalls,
experiencing 50% of the state’s population growth but receiving only 7% of the
funding in this year’s budget to maintain services. To sign the petition please
visit www.fairerfunding.com.au.
Yuroke Creek
Graffiti/Maintenance: Graffiti has been removed but reappears
regularly. Mowing has been done to the extent that it can be without impacting
the wetlands. Cr Atmaca to check on the graffiti. He also informed the meeting
that there are graffiti removal kits available to residents, from the Council,
to remove graffiti from their property as only main thoroughfares are
maintained by Council’s program.
Greenvale Crime Statistics: These are not readily available. GRA may be able to invite a representative from the Victoria Police Community Liaison Group to address a meeting in future.
