It has been confirmed that the Aldi going into the Greenvale Shopping Centre will not have a liquor license.  An additional car park is proposed to go behind the service station.

Bus Service to Gladstone Park is still a major issue; no satisfactory response has been received from the authorities with whom this has been raised, and despite Council also advocating for this.

Councillors’ Report By Cr Helen: Still no formal planning application received at Council re: Aldi.

Hume’s “Positive Ageing Strategy” is currently out for comment. Covers possible provision of smaller bus services, appropriate park facilities, etc. For more information: http://www.hume.vic.gov.au/Whats_On/Your_Say/Positive_Ageing_Strategy_2014-2024_Public_Exhibition

Availability of the Hume Council by-laws was queried with regard to noise restrictions. These can be found at http://www.hume.vic.gov.au/About_Us/Your_Council/Local_Laws_Legislation_Parking/Local_Laws

GRA also requests that the Council publish their location in the local Leader Newspaper.

Cr Helen also mentioned that Consumer Affairs Victoria now has an office located in Broadmeadows. Note that CAV deals with neighbourhood disputes, not Hume City Council. CAV is available to residents for information regarding tenancy, shopping and business disputes. For more information http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/

Also a reminder that there are graffiti removal kits available from the Council for residents’ use.

The GRA wishes to acknowledge and thank Cr Helen for her attendance at our meetings and contribution throughout 2014.

Bus Service Issues: There may be an avenue of enquiry available at the LATM community meeting as the public transport officer from Hume City Council will be in attendance.  Some correspondence has been received throughout the year regarding the perceived lack of numbers and therefore no plans for PTV to change or add routes.

General Business

Greenvale Local Area Traffic Management Study: Letter received by residents this week.  Cr Helen explained that these recommendations would have been based on reports from residents, information meetings, traffic monitoring.  Residents should bring all questions and concerns to the community meeting organised by the Council to be held on December 2. Cr Helen indicated that the council officers responsible are receptive and do want to hear from residents.  GRA to officially request further consultation with Hume’s traffic engineers.

Request for Australia Post box to be situated at the shopping centre at the intersection of Barrymore Road and Greenvale Drive. GRA to write to Australia Post and request relocation of existing post box from Motherwell Avenue.

Neighbourhood Watch: Vince provided an update that Greenvale’s Neighbourhood Watch has been temporarily suspended due to lack of numbers. Historically there have been issues obtaining accurate crime statistics for the area, and residents have been referred to the “Street Watch” section of the Leader newspaper. Greenvale is rarely mentioned. Discussion took place around the possibility of amalgamating Neighbourhood Watch and the GRA. Vince and Vivien to look into how this can be done.

2015 Meeting Schedule to be confirmed.
