Mark Busuttil  addressed meeting:regarding Greenvale Secondary school
A sub-committee has been created headed by Mark Busuttil to push for a secondary school in Greenvale.
Email sent to Ros Spence on 23/2/18 outlining concerns and needs for a high school
Email prompted a meeting with Ros on 1/3/18. We discussed issues of high school:
 Size of site
o   Site is 7 hectares but department deems 8 hectares to be the appropriate size of a high school). Since part of current site owns by Council and has Council facilities, I believe this issue can be resolved with Council support.

Numbers required for school to be required
o   Numbers for 2018 can be confirmed in May. A catchment area requires an excess of 500 students for the high school to be built. Based on actual enrolments.

Mark Busuttil believes that this is flawed because it does not take future growth into account & local residents are penalised to support other schools in the catchment area. Clarification of this actual formula required. Also future growth numbers are required.
Zoning for High Schools and Gladstone Park
o   Trail for students to get into Gladstone Park Secondary from old part of Greenvale to end and old zoning to be reinstated from next year onwards. This also favours Greenvale as Gladstone Park now included in catchment numbers and school is oversubscribed.
-Actions
o   Ros thought a public rally would not have any value and just upset local residents. She advised questions to the Minister.

Tamara Nolan addressed meeting regarding Duplication of roads surrounding Greenvale
Tamara Nolan is heading a sub-committee to obtain funding for the duplication of Micleham and Somerton Roads

·         Mickleham Road is 4 lanes from Tullamarine through to the roundabout at Mickleham and Somerton Roads where it becomes 2 lanes.

·         Kirkham & Somerton Road also have traffic issues.

·         There has been 3 meetings with a core of 6 to 8 attending. These meetings included  brainstorming and collection of data.

·         Thesub- committee is joining forces with the Craigieburn Residents Association

·         Tamara presented many sources of data regarding roads in the area including structural plans for Donnybrook and Beveridge.

·         Part of the road planning is duplication of Oaklands Road to Pascoe Vale Road and Somerton Road to Donnybrook Road.

·         Ros Spence has written to the Minister for Roads regarding the congestion in the area.

·         The Parliament prefers an electronic petition rather than paper based petitions. The sub-committee are preparing the necessary paperwork to enable this to happen.

·         Tamara mentioned that complaining on social media does not have much impact, as ministers are not allowed to have social media site prescence.
Councillors report
·         A councillors report was not given as there were not any councillors present. Cr. Joseph Haweil did send an apology for his absence.
