November 2018 Meeting Minutes


Meeting opened at 7:10 pm

Minutes of last AGM  meeting were accepted as a true record. Moved:  
& Seconded: , Carried.
There was no corresponance of an AGM nature

Correspondence  IN (October to November):
From Hume council re our letter of 15 july 18 regarding rezonings in rural areas.Virtually says, its under control of planning authorities approving PSPs, and individuals can object to council for individual council planning applications, But Not PSPs
City Link Widening so two lanes can turn onto Tullamarine Tollway from Mickleham Road. Response: Will do it once bridge completed.
Via Email, that 1600 houses in Gladstone Park, Tullamarine, Westmeadows and Coolaroo are areas now considered unsuitable for residential properties due to aiport ruway additions/extensions.
Ros Spence dated 27/11/18: Email received saying  As promised, the Labor Government will open six new government schools, including secondary schools in Greenvale and Craigieburn, and build a new local community hospital……”

Treasurer’s report:
The Treasurer presented the  financial statement to the meeting for Financial Year 2017/18 and movements from 01/07/18 to 29/11/18.
Moved &  seconded  That statement be acceped. Carried.
Councillors Report:
Councillors were not present as they had their own meeting to attend.

President’s report (on behalf of the committee:)  
Sub-committees were created for school and road duplication. The State Labor Government stated that a Secondary college would be opened by 2021, if they were re-elected.
Speakers included during the past year have been,
·         Representative from Brookfield that are proposing a Greenvle West sub-division
·         Jim Overend, State Liberal Candidate
·         Craig Ondarchie, Liberal member Northern Metro
·         Ros Spence, State Labor member for Yuroke
·         Geoff Porter, Mayor of Hume
Secondary School subcommittee report
The sub-committee is chaired by Mark Busuttil to push for a secondary school in Greenvale.
Mark reported that,
·         .Promise made by Labor Government that Greenvale Secondary College will be opened in 2021.
·         The Secondary College must be included in the May 2019 budget
·         Mark will provide written reports on the sub-committee meetings

Greenvale Roads Subcommittee report
The sub-committee is chaired by Tamara Nolan for the duplication of Mickleham and Somerton Roads. Tamara reported that,
·         Letter was sent to Tim Pallas regarding the duplication.  A letter was returned dated 03/10/18 stating that the Government was in caretaker mode.
·         A new letter will be sent to the new minister for Roads.
Moved & seconded  that all reports be accepted. carried

Election of Office Bearers for 2018-19
The current President Richard Baran declared all positions vacant and stated that he no longer wished to be President.
The following members were elected to hold the offices for 2018 --  19:

Roads subcommittee Chair: Tamara Nolan
Secondary College subcommittee chair: Mark Busuttil.
It was decided that both these committees maintain their current structure.
There being no other nominations, all were declared elected

General  Business:     
·         A suggestion was made that the committee members be given a yearly allowance for expenses incurred. This was appreciated but declined by the committee.
·         A question was raised as to whether a charter exists for GRA. Investgation required.
·         Important issues for GRA: Secondary College; Roads; Public Transport; Use of council facilities
·         The committee will approach  Hume council on increased uses for the Recreation Centre.
