Tamara reported that Fiona Patten MP tabled the ‘Mickleham Road and Somerton Road Infrastructure’ e-petition on 14 November 2019 with 1166 signatures recorded. This is a great result and an increase upon last year’s result of 729 signatures. The senior engineer from Department of Transport has also recently responded to emails sent by the GRA and received the following response:
‘Department of Transport (formerly VicRoads) have investigated staged and interim (sub ultimate i.e. less than three lane each way) options for the upgrade of Mickleham Road and have developed these staged options into proposals including functional designs. These staged proposals will be considered for funding in future road programs in the Statewide context with due regard to other State Government priorities.’
The Roads subcommittee will be raising another e-petition in 2020. HCC and the subcommittee have worked together to develop advocacy signage and information on the HCC landing page: hume.vic.gov.au/micklehamsomertonroad

Councillors’ Report
Cr Sherry informed us that bus route 525 has been opened up to so the bus can now pick up from new areas, and she is also not too sure about a library being established at the Rec. Centre site. She has put in a submission to government for the establishment of a crisis centre.
Cr Hewiel has had a letter sent to planning minister asking if he believes Mickleham Rd is adequet considering the rapid additional residential development that has taken place in the area. Minister replied that Mickleham Rd is a high priority, and is in a 5 year time frame.
